Child safety is a priority at Lewis & McAtee P.C. From
time to time, we will offer different safety tips, which
should help keep your child safe and healthy.
Ten Quick Child-Safety Tips
- Put gates at the top of stairs, and ensure that the
gates are always in use.
- When cooking, try and use the back hob-rings of your
cooker, and make sure pot and pan handles are not sticking
out.
- Fit safety catches on windows to prevent children from
falling out.
- Check your smoke alarm at least twice a year to make
sure it is working.
- Keep garden tools locked away in a shed or cupboard.
- Place plants, plastic bags, candy, coins and hot drinks
on high counters, tables or surfaces.
- Get the best infant car seat you can afford, and learn
to use it correctly; check reviews in consumer magazines
to compare brands. And remember, babies and children must
ride in the back seat. If your car has air bags, this
is even more critical.
- Never leave your baby or toddler alone in the bath.
Young children can drown in just five centimeters of water.
- Keep household chemicals and medicine up high and out
of the reach of children.
- Check play equipment regularly for loose nuts and bolts.
